“READING WITHOUT BORDERS” is a project for students – ages 6 to 14 years old, promoting READING in our everyday life. Teachers from nine European countries will collaborated across borders and time zones to increase cultural literacy and excitement. One of the serious problems today is that young people have lost interest in reading. Therefore, the main aims of the project are to encourage our students to develop LIFELONG READING HABITS, to read good fiction, and to motivate them to get information not only from the Internet but from paper books as well.
We want to share our LOVE of BOOKS with today’s young people. Our mission is to build in each school active reading community , that makes reading sociable and fun .We believe that the more students read, the more they understand the rules of life, in order to adapt, adopt and accommodate in the society better and to become more prepared for the life.
Through READING we want to develop positive social skills, reciprocal respect and a friendly school climate. It will be achieved through TRANSNATIONAL cooperation among schools of nine European countries, sharing experiences and good practices /Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Turkey/. The project involves not only teachers and learners but also parents, making them more responsible and conscious of the implications of their actions. The pupils with special needs, learning difficulties, physical or cognitive disabilities will participate actively in this project because the variety of activities will support different learning paces and cognitive styles.
